Product Description

Sowu Supply Food Additive CAS 112163-33-4 Lactoferrin

Product Description

Sowu Supply Food Additive CAS 112163-33-4 Lactoferrin

Lactoferrin is an iron-binding glycoprotein belonging to the transferrin family. It is present in human milk and various secretory fluids, with the highest concentrations found in breast milk-particularly in colostrum, where it serves as a core immune-functional protein. By competing with pathogenic microorganisms for iron sources, lactoferrin helps ward off their invasion, thereby protecting infants from immune-related damage.

Application

Lactoferrin is an iron-binding glycoprotein belonging to the transferrin family. It is present in human milk and various secretory fluids, with the highest concentrations found in breast milk-particularly in colostrum, where it serves as a core immune-functional protein. By competing with pathogenic microorganisms for iron sources, lactoferrin helps ward off their invasion, thereby protecting infants from immune-related damage.
In 1939, scientist Sorensen first isolated a red-colored protein from cow's milk. However, it was not until 1961 that the iron-binding protein in human milk was successfully extracted, bringing lactoferrin into public awareness. With further research, scientists discovered that lactoferrin from both human and bovine milk shares similar bioactivities, with their amino acid sequences exhibiting 69% homology. Based on these findings and advancements in biotechnology, global dairy companies have since developed and incorporated lactoferrin-often hailed as the "gold standard of immune milk"-into infant formula to enhance its nutritional and immunological benefits.

Applications of Lactoferrin:

 1.Food Industry
a.Infant Formula Milk Powder: Japan took the lead in adding lactoferrin to milk powder, which can promote iron absorption, improve the gut microbiota, and enhance immunity.
b.Functional Foods: Such as yogurt and fermented dairy products. Clinical evidence has verified its health benefits, such as preventing viral influenza and intestinal infections.
c.Application Scope: It can be added to soybean protein products, meat products, etc. to supplement lactoferrin and enhance nutrition and immune support.
2.Cosmetics
a.Whitening Effect: It can inhibit the production of melanin, and the effect is positively correlated with the concentration. It can be stably used in whitening agent formulations.
b.Anti-aging Effect: It can promote the synthesis of collagen and alleviate skin aging and collagen loss.
c.Development Potential: Further research on the molecular mechanism is needed, but its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties have already supported its application in products.
3.Animal Production
a.Feed Additive: For sow feed, it can reduce iron-deficiency anemia in piglets, improve immunity, regulate the gut microbiota, prevent diarrhea, and enhance nutrient absorption.
b.Processing Advantages: It can withstand high-temperature processing and provide antioxidant protection for the nutritional components of the feed.
4.Disease Prevention and Remedy
a.Metabolic and Immune Regulation: It can regulate iron metabolism, and has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects.
b.Anti-infection Mechanism: It can bind to the surface receptors of pathogens (such as Staphylococcus aureus) and block the infection pathway.
c.Neurodegenerative Diseases: It can inhibit the spread of prion proteins in Parkinson's disease and shows therapeutic potential by binding to neuronal receptors.
