Neohesperidin dihydrochalcone (NHDC), a white to yellow-white crystalline sweetener from citrus, is 1500-1800 times sweeter than sucrose. Its sweetness onset is between saccharin sodium and glycyrrhizin, closer to saccharin. Soluble in water, slightly in ethanol, it shows synergistic effect with xylitol, aspartame, etc., cutting costs, reducing single sweetener intake and mimicking sucrose taste.
