Product Description

Mesalazine (5-aminosalicylic acid), developed by Swiss Pharmacia AB and launched in 1985. Developed by SK and Fening Companies and approved by the US FDA in 1987 as a pharmaceutical product for remedying colitis. It exhibits a significant inhibitory effect on intestinal wall inflammation. Mesalazine works by inhibiting the synthesis of inflammation-causing prostaglandins and the formation of the inflammatory mediator leukotriene, thereby significantly suppressing inflammation in the intestinal mucosa. It has a more pronounced effect on the connective tissue of inflamed intestinal walls. This pharmaceutical product is indicated for the remedy of ulcerative colitis, ulcerative proctitis, and Crohn's disease.

Application

Mesalazine is the active ingredient of SASP in the remedy of ulcerative colitis. Metalazine can inhibit the synthesis of inflammatory prostatins and the formation of inflammatory mediators leukotrienes, thereby significantly inhibiting the inflammation of the intestinal mucosa.  Mesalazin dose-dependently inhibits prostaglandin synthesis and reduces the release of PGE2 in human colonic mucosa.
